RaVe 270 Golf Variant Concept

Volkswagen presented the most powerful Golf Variant ever at the 2007 Essen Motor Show. The RaVe 270 Concept Car has a boot filled with 1,400 Watts of premium sound.

The RNS 510 radio-navigation system from Volkswagen forms the base. The userfriendly unit with touchscreen and multifunction keys is powered by a 400 MHz Power-PC processor. Navigation and entertainment data is stored on a 30 GB hard disk. A SD card slot located beneath the touchscreen enables further expansion. A total of 13 speakers including one 880 Watt and two other 250 Watt subwoofers take care of the bass. The 880 Watt subwoofer and three amplifiers are on display in the cargo floor. Two 12-inch monitors are integrated in the boot lid, so that music can be both heard and seen. Volkswagen Individual who helped builing the RaVe 270 wanted to transfer GTI abd R32 feeling to the Variant model. RaVe 270 stands for the 270 PS developed by the four-cylinder TSI engine. The 230 PS Golf GTI “edition 30” engine got a modified turbocharger, intercooling system and engine electronics. The 270 PS are available at 6,000 rpm, the maximum of 350 Newton-meter is available at a low 3,000 rpm. This peak value remains constant up to 5,000 rpm. Forces between the engine and the R32 4Motion all-wheel drive are distributed by the DSG dual clutch transmission. After just 5.8 seconds, the Golf Variant RaVe 270 is already moving at 62 mph. Not until 155 mph is reached do the electronics stop further acceleration. 18 inch Brembo brake disks and anthracite calipers ensure braking performance.Volkswagen developed a new design line for all add-on body parts. The bumpers, radiator grille, side skirts, taillights, headlamps, and even the mirrors – everything was modified and then painted in “Biscay Blue”. The front end uses the classic Golf radiator grille directly below it is a completely modified bumper with three large air inlets. The xenon headlamps with LED daylight running lamps got a new look by extending the engine hood and fenders. At the rear end, there are two twin tailpipes. Between them is a diffuser that provides additional traction. The 19 inch “Zaragoza” wheels in combination with the sport chassis that was lowered by 20 mm give the car more grip. The upgraded interior is characterized by leather sport bucket seats with R-Logo and painted door handle recesses.
